Classes to support adults waiting for NHS treatments in Central Stockton.

AMALAwellness is collaborating with North Tees NHS Waiting Well / Preparing well, to host a special Mindful Chair Exercise course. The classes are designed to help people across Stockton-on-Tees and local areas to take positive steps to looking after wellbeing whilst waiting for treatment from the NHS.
Who do the sessions support?
The sessions support those who are looking to improve their wellbeing whilst waiting for NHS treatment. We work on flexibility, balance, strength, aerobic fitness and mobility every session. We use equipment such as exercise bands and balls to make classes fun and engaging.
Carers and family are welcome to come along and take part to support participants.
What will happen in the sessions?
The sessions will include gentle flowing chair exercises and mindfulness techniques, to support using your time to improve your physical, mental, emotional and social health whilst waiting for treatments. There will be options to come up to standing with chair support and free standing exercises, but there is the option to stay seated throughout the sessions. The classes are for you and meet you at your level of fitness.
We work on gently improving mobility, flexibility, balance, strength. We also work on mindful exercises to help with anxiety and stress. Classes are designed to be calm and soothing – with soft music in the background. We sometimes use equipment to help improve mobility, flexibility, range of motion and strength.

Where and when will sessions be held?
Classes will start early January, initially at Lakota Training in Central Stockton, transferring to The Community Hub in Wellington Square when it opens.
Tuesday afternoons, 1:15-2:15pm.
