Gluten Free in Teesside

A comprehensive guide to

restaurants, pubs, cafes and take-aways that are Gluten Free
In Middlesbrough, Stockton and Redcar & Cleveland.

Approximately 1 in 100 people suffer from Gluten Sensitivity or Coeliac Disease in the UK – Many cases can go undiagnosed for years or even a lifetime.

This is a guide to places myself or friends have visited across Teesside. It is recommended to ring a head to check that a place can cater for you or your loved one safely, – When recommended somewhere new, I always double check that it will be able to cater for me, as businesses might change models or availability for gluten-free.

Being Gluten Intolerant or Coeliac can be a nightmare when deciding to eat out. It was later life when I showed symptoms of being gluten intolerant (at the age of 35). I did not realise what the symptoms meant till I turned 37. I became extremely anaemic and had a painful and upset tummy anytime I ate something with gluten in. It was then when I was diagnosed as developing an allergy to gluten.

I had to adapt to changing my diet quickly and eating out became something that I had to research. Unfortunately with much trial and error. However, I have adapted quickly. With the help of a good friend I found out there are lots of places who cater for us.

Those who need, or have loved ones who need a gluten free diet know the struggles too well when it comes to eating out.

Once in a while, we all fancy a takeaway or nice meal out. It should not have to be a struggle.

For this reason, With no easily accessible gluten-free guide to eating out and takeaways in Teesside, I thought I would create this blog. Our gluten free Teesside guide includes maps of places to eat out and for takeaways.

The Perfect Guide for popping to a cafe, for evening meals or for days out across The Tees Valley.
