Discover the Foundations of Yoga Philosophy: A 3-Week Online Journey
Starting Monday 1st December – £18.00 for 3 weeks, or £7.50 drop in
On Zoom – 7:00-8:15pm,
Are you curious about the deeper aspects of yoga beyond the physical practice? Our 3-week online course offers a gentle, beginner-friendly introduction to yoga philosophy, focusing on Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga and practical tools to enhance your life both on and off the mat.
Each 1 hour 15-minute session combines theory, reflection, and experiential practice. You’ll learn about Patanjali and the Yoga Sutras, exploring how these ancient teachings provide guidance for cultivating balance, awareness, and inner calm. Through breakout room discussions, you’ll have the opportunity to connect with fellow participants, share insights, and explore how yoga philosophy relates to your daily life.
A key component of the course is breathwork. We guide you through Deep Yogic Breathing (Dirga), 4-Part Box Breath, and Triangle Breath, showing how nasal breathing supports mental clarity, emotional regulation, and overall wellbeing. These techniques are designed to calm the nervous system, enhance focus, and create a sense of inner grounding before, during, and after practice.
Each session also incorporates journaling prompts, giving you space to reflect on your learning, set intentions, and integrate the teachings of the 8 limbs into your daily routines. Topics include ethical living (Yama), self-discipline and personal growth (Niyama), as well as mindfulness, meditation, and self-inquiry through the inner limbs.
To round out your experience, every class includes deep relaxation to end the session, helping you embody the lessons and cultivate a sense of peace that lasts long after the session ends.
By the end of the course, you’ll have a solid understanding of yoga philosophy, practical tools to support mental and emotional wellbeing, and simple techniques to bring more mindfulness, balance, and harmony into your everyday life.

What You’ll Learn
Across six weeks, we will explore a range of calming practices designed to help you settle the mind and cultivate inner ease.
Meditation and Breathwork (10-Minute Practices)
Each session includes short, manageable meditation and pranayama exercises. These bite-sized practices are ideal for beginners and improvers, enabling you to gradually build confidence, consistency, and a personal connection to stillness.
Deep Relaxation (20–30 Minutes)
Every class concludes with a guided relaxation using one of several established techniques, including:
- Progressive muscle relaxation
- Deep body relaxation
- Yoga Nidra, a guided practice often described as “yogic sleep,” which guides you into a state of deep rest where the mind remains awake while the body experiences profound relaxation.
Exploring Yoga Philosophy: The Yamas
Each week, we will also introduce one of the Yamas, the ethical foundations of classical Yoga Philosophy. These principles offer a meaningful framework for cultivating awareness, compassion, and balance in everyday life.
The Yamas include:
- Ahimsa – Non-violence
- Satya – Truthfulness
- Asteya – Non-stealing
- Brahmacharya – Moderation of energy
- Aparigraha – Non-attachment
Through simple discussion and reflection, we will explore how each principle can support your meditation practice and your wider wellbeing.
